Music Tech Tools and Tips
Experience improvisational music making that is fun, easy to do, defies categorization, and is connected to your deepest expression. Join Cindy as she teaches simple, yet powerful "improv starters" which serve to unite music making in new, yet cohesive and intuitive ways.
Any combination of instruments and voices are possible in "Outside the Box" workshops. From sax players to flautists, spoon players to yoddlers - every musician, novice to expert, is welcome. The unique combinations of sounds, styles and musical personalities found in each workshop bring a uniqueness and a freshness to the music created.
Participants develop a variety of improvisational skills that make free improv playing both spontaneous and coherent. Skills such as: deep listening, soloing over drones and patterns, discovering and developing grooves, shadowing, playing/singing with space, playing/singing as the background, playing/singing as the foreground, sensing when to play/sing - and when not.
Workshop participants have opportuniites to play/sing with the entire group, in duets, trios and quartets, and as a soloist. And throughout the workshop, over and over the musicians will say, "We have no music. We have no lead sheets. We don't even know what key we are in. But the music we are making is AMAZING? How is this possible?" See for yourself. Host or attend a "Music Outside the Box" workshop.
